Ruby grapefruits are rich in vitamins A and C, beta-carotene and bioflavonoids, especially naringin.
Health Benefits: Ruby grapefruits are rich in vitamin C, studied for its anti-inflammatory effects on conditions such as asthma and arthritis as well as reducing suffering from colds and other immune challenges. Grapefruits are particularly rich in antioxidants lycopene, limonoids and naringenin, protecting against DNA and cell damage, disease and aging. Naringenin is thought to act as a natural blood thinner and help lower cholesterol. Grapefruit juice has been studied to have anti-tumour effects, prevent kidney stones, lower insulin and promote weight loss.
